HASC is offering special rates for members who register by Jan. 15 for the upcoming Active Shooter Drill at the LAC + USC Medical Center (old campus).

This simulation exercise, scheduled for Mar. 19, moves beyond classroom training to offer an opportunity to actively participate in two emergency scenarios: one in an ER setting and the other in an office environment. Collaborate with law enforcement and risk analysis experts to learn how you can involve key stakeholders to create a local plan for survival and recovery for your hospital.

Course objectives include:

• Lead the development of hospital active shooter event policies and procedures.
• Promote hospital-wide awareness.
• Learn to coach hospital employees on prevention, readiness and appropriate response.
• Identify resources needed after an active shooter event to support recovery from trauma.
• Understand Unified Command and the need to develop close relationships with outside partners.
• Develop a response kit for first responders.
