Prepare Your Nursing Staff in APU’s RN Perioperative Course this Summer

HASC’s workforce initiative partner, Azusa Pacific University (APU), is offering a perioperative RN specialty course this summer. New this semester, the course prepares labor and delivery nurses who need training to circulate for Cesarean deliveries. The APU RN Specialty course is available for any hospital in the region.

Health Care Workforce Survey Update

Workforce challenges have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact has prompted HASC to re-examine its workforce data collecting and reporting efforts. The availability of accurate workforce data is critical because it quantifies issues and allows for better decision making based on facts rather than anecdotes. Furthermore, this data is useful in identifying shortages and assists with analyzing workforce trends and anticipating changes.

Clinical Lab Scientist 2020 Report Is Released

HASC is actively addressing the Clinical Laboratory Scientist shortage across the region and has released its 2020 Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) Program Summary Report. 

Working with California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), HASC seeks to fill hospitals’ critical workforce needs for Clinical Lab Scientists — known as CLS for short.

What Does the Workforce Development Board Do?

The City of Los Angeles Workforce Development Board (WDB) oversees the expenditure of more than $50 million in public funds annually through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). Board members are appointed by the Mayor from the leadership ranks of the education, economic development and organized labor fields as well as other key players in the Los Angeles economy.
