Active Shooter Drill Resources

Overview

Active Shooter Drill Materials

July 12, 2013

The HASC Security and Safety Committee held a drill at LAC + USC Medical Center in March 2013 that included front line hospital administrative and clinical staff as well as law enforcement and first responder agencies. The experience was thought-provoking; many participants walked away with a new perspective on safety.

HASC developed the Security and Safety Active Shooter Drill Tool Kit to create greater awareness of workplace violence among hospitals and other health care facilities, and to provide the tools necessary for each facility to develop a plan that leads to a safer, more prepared environment.

The table below includes all of the documents you need to plan an active shooter drill, including checklists, industry guidelines, templates, scenarios, safety rules, participant releases and staffing suggestions. You’ll find a link to a short video featuring a closer look at HASC’s 2013 active shooter drill to the right.

For more information about the March event, visit Active Shooter Drill event page, or contact Pat Wall, (213) 538-0715, pwall@hasc.org.
