Annual Meeting Session on Cyber Security Will Explore the Role of Leadership
Faculty has been announced for The Role of Leadership in Health Care Cyber Security, a breakout session at HASC’s upcoming Annual Meeting, April 22-24 at Park Aviara Resort in Carlsbad.
The moderator of this session will be John Mullen, Esq., Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith, LLP. Featured panelists are: Richard Greenberg, CISSP, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health; Jim McQuaid, AIG Claims Division; and Jill Plesh, Esq., Citrus Valley Health Partners.
Technological improvements have increased exposure to cybersecurity threats, with the potential to create patient safety issues, financial loss and damage community reputation. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security have issued warnings about the threat of cyber terrorism against a hospital, which might include attempts to steal identity, fraudulently access health benefits or disable medical devices. Through case studies, this session will examine the role leaders should play and how hospital leaders can stay informed about cyber threats and protect hospital and health system assets and reputation.
An invitational breakfast for c-suite members on cyber security has been added to the program. The breakfast will be held 7:30 to 8:45, Friday, April 24 at the Park Hyatt Aviara. The topic will be the cost and impact of a breach. Invitations to c-suite participants will be sent out later this week.
To date, 450 registrants are planning to attend this year’s annual meeting. Find out more at www.hasc.org/2015HASCAnnualMeeting.
