Conference Dealing with Pain Management Set for April 28
Registration is now available for Total Pain: Total Care, an all-day conference on April 28 presented in collaboration by Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and HASC.
The event will provide attendees with up-to-date information on pain, suffering and communication in palliative care, as well as insight on how clinicians might integrate this information into their daily practice. All lectures are focused on evidence-based practices.
Total pain has emerged as an important concept of patient care in palliative care and pain management with implications spanning across all care settings. It’s important for clinicians and administrators to understand this area of care and how it can improve medical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Participants will engage in the following key objectives:
- Recognize and define total pain, physical pain and alternative sources of suffering.
- Learn about new trends in the delivery of spiritual care in palliative care.
- Improve communication skills, particularly for clinicians who care for patients at end of life.
- Understand the importance of the spiritual and psychological dimensions of care when treating pain.
- Describe patient outcomes affected by the care of total pain and ways to measure such outcomes. Understand the spiritual domain of care as described in the National Consensus Project Clinical Guidelines.
The event will take place at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center - Houssels Forum. Program cost is $200 for HASC members and $240 for non-members; the rate for full-time students is $100.
