HASC coordinated a regional meeting on Nov. 1 to share information with Inland region hospitals regarding the flu season, which runs from November through March. The meeting, which was held at Riverside Community Hospital, had approximately 40 attendees.

Patrick Brilliant, CEO of Riverside Community Hospital, offered opening remarks for the meeting. Speakers represented Riverside County Public Health, San Bernardino County Public Health, Riverside County EMS, ICEMA and the California Department of Public Health. Topics ranged from looking at the flu vaccine at both a national and local level, what public health is doing to protect the health of the population to prevent a flu outbreak, emergency preparedness and response to deal with a surge of those in need of health services, and how to communicate with the local California Department of Public Health office regarding requests for temporary increases to patient accommodations. Dimitrios Alexiou, HASC Vice President, Inland Region, provided closing remarks.
