HQI Conference on Accelerating Excellence A Success
The Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) Inaugural 2014 Conference, Accelerate Excellence, was a great success, drawing approximately 400 attendees, supported by 20 sponsors, and delivering content that inspired and activated attendees.
HQI President and CEO Julie Morath kicked off the conference with a challenge to California’s health care providers to improve our performance compared to other states across the nation, as demonstrated on the Hospital Compare website.
The plenary sessions incorporated simulation training and panel discussions that illustrated several strategies to accelerate excellence in quality and patient safety. Seven specific breakout sessions took a deeper dive into topics like Sepsis management, harm prevention, collaborative care, and patient and family engagement to bring attendees new strategies and resources for improvement.
As one attendee noted on the interactive conference app: “Great speakers on current concepts delivered to the health care change agents who are qualified and ready to redesign care delivery. Clearly a Call to Action!”
Save the date for HQI’s second annual conference, Accelerate Reliability, to be held Nov. 12 and 13, 2015 in Sacramento.
