My Health Los Angeles Takes Effect in County Oct. 1
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved for the Department of Health Services (DHS) to execute contracts with 50 community clinic partners (representing 149 clinic sites) for primary care and dental care services effective Oct. 1, 2014. Inpatient hospitalization services will continue to be provided by DHS.
My Health LA is a redesigned program that evolved from Healthy Way LA (unmatched) program that preserves access to care and promotes care coordination to individuals who otherwise do not qualify for Medi-Cal due to income or residency status. Agreement also provides qualifying community clinics access to the 340-B drug pricing program through the DHS Central Pharmacy.
The county approved a maximum total expenditure of $55,000,000, subject to annual appropriation by the Board ($50,000,000 health care services and $5,000,000 for dental care). Under the approved terms, MHLA can serve 146,000 beneficiaries, compared to 110,000 under the Healthy Way LA unmatched program.
