Charge Nursing: Creating a Culture of Safety will take place Monday, March 12 at The California Endowment in Los Angeles. This advanced class for charge nurses will focus on the role of the nurse leader in improving customer service, continuous survey readiness and response to critical events. Key concepts from Charge Nursing: Leading from the Middle will be reviewed briefly.

Among the course objectives:

• Evaluate unit readiness for any type of survey.
• Discuss measures that would improve a unit’s safety culture, including hourly rounding, effective shift reporting, simulation drills for critical events, debriefing after critical/unusual events, effective feedback to frontline staff and response to critical events.

The all-day seminar is $95 for HASC member hospitals. The course will be led by Christine Horton, RN, chief clinical officer for Flex Ed.
