Half-Day Program on Role of the Charge Nurse Set for April 19
HASC and Flex Ed present Role of the Charge Nurse, April 19 at the California Endowment in Los Angeles.
This half-day course is intended for the registered nurse who participates or plans to participate in the charge nurse role. Featured topics will include advanced leadership strategies, communication techniques, priority setting and conflict management. The session will include practice scenarios in group exercises.
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify three key managerial functions of the charge nurse
- Describe how to assess patient care needs and match them with staff competence and ability
- Discuss how to manage conflict
- Explain the importance of relationship management skills in interdepartmental communication
Presenter Mark Kaliher, RN, has experience in several areas related to the duties of a charge nurse, including assertiveness, charge nurse training, cultural diversity and precepting.
The fee is $95 for HASC member hospitals.
