This week, on a motion offered by Supervisor Shawn Nelson and approved without opposition, the Orange County Board of Supervisors directed County staff to prepare an amendment to the CalOptima Ordinance to preclude the agency’s competition with the private sector in the private, commercial health insurance market, including the future health care Exchange.

The action was consistent with previous actions taken by the Board of Supervisors. Last week, the CalOptima Board of Directors also voted not to participate in the health care Exchange. HASC voiced support for these actions on behalf of the Orange County hospitals.
