Final Notice: Deadline Approaches for $225 Million Cipro Settlement

May 30, 2017

Wednesday, May 31 is the last day to enroll for a share of a $225 million class-action settlement linked to sales of the antibiotic Cipro from 1997 to 2005.

HASC is offering this Class Action Settlement Recovery Service (SRS) through its endorsed partnership with Managed Care Advisory Group, LLC (MCAG). See below for complete enrollment information.

If you are one of the 100-plus member hospitals already enrolled with the service, you do not need to sign the attached agreement or enroll through the website. MCAG will reach out to you directly for these opportunities.

Current Settlement Opportunities include:

  • California Cipro Cases I & II (Barr Laboratories) – $225 million – May 31 deadline: A hospital’s share of settlement funds will depend on the amount of Cipro purchased between Jan. 8, 1997 and Dec. 31, 2005. MCAG has already filed on behalf of many California hospitals and businesses into Cases I & II, and the payments have been significant. If MCAG filed on behalf of your organization back in December, no further action is needed.
  • Optical Disk Drive Products Settlement (ODD) – $180 million – Aug. 1 deadline: Hospitals that purchased desktop or laptop computers between April 1, 2003 and Dec. 31, 2008 are eligible to receive funds from this settlement.
  • Lithium Ion Battery Settlement – $64 million – Sept. 30 deadline: Hospitals and businesses that purchased Lithium Ion Battery Products including, but not limited to, laptops, notebook and tablet computers and mobile phones purchased for employees can receive cash from the settlement.
  • Blood Reagent Antitrust Litigation – $22 million: Any hospital that purchased Blood Reagents directly from Ortho or Immucore from Nov. 2000 – Oct. 2015 are eligible to receive funds.
  • Payment Card Interchange Fee Settlement – $5-plus billion: Commonly referred to as the “Visa/MasterCard Settlement,” has billions of dollars available to hospitals that accepted Visa or MasterCard payments from customers in the U.S. any time from Jan. 2004 – Nov. 28, 2012.

MCAG has a convenient process in place to help HASC members with the claims process.

The enrollment process is fast, easy and does not require upfront fees. You will enroll in the SRS directly with MCAG; however, HASC members will receive a discounted contingency fee of 20 percent, versus MCAG’s standard fee of 25 percent.

Signing up is easy:

1. Click here to visit MCAG’s website for HASC members.

2. Click the “Enroll Now” button at center-right.

3.  Enter in your business and contact information and that’s it!  OR

4.  Fill out the hard-copy agreement sent with this message (redlines are acceptable).
