The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) announced today that it has approved proposed premium rates for the 13 individual health plans offered through Covered California after actuaries determined the proposed premium rates were reasonable.As required by law, DMHC actuaries conducted a thorough review of the premium rates proposed by the 13 qualified health plans (QHPs) that will offer coverage through Covered California beginning Jan.1, 2014.The actuaries evaluated the plans’ justification for the proposed rates, including anticipated medical and administration costs, utilization trends and profits.
