HASC Welcomes Martin Gallegos as SVP, Health Policy and Communications
It is my pleasure to announce that Martin Gallegos (Marty) has accepted my offer to be HASC’s Senior Vice President for Health Policy and Communications.
For the past 11 years, Marty has been the Senior Vice President/Chief Legislative Advocate for the California Hospital Association (CHA). From 2001-2002 he was the Director, California Office of the Patient Advocate (Governor Gray Davis appointment).
From 1994-2000, Marty was a Member of the California State Assembly representing the San Gabriel Valley, and he held the prestigious position of Chairman of the Assembly Health Committee for four years.
For many years before his public service, Marty was in private practice as a chiropractor.
Marty is a high-profile leader and a well-respected individual with deep roots in Southern California. He will work hand-in-hand with the people and organizations that HASC collaborates with on important hospital and health care issues. He is well known to HASC members as an experienced health care advocate/lobbyist for CHA and served our partner association with distinction under the mentorship of Duane Dauner, CHA President and CEO.
Marty’s skills, experience and personality will serve our members well in the political arena, and he will be a natural fit with the HASC staff.
Marty will oversee the HASC Regional Vice Presidents in the counties of Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside/San Bernardino and Ventura/Santa Barbara as well as our Vice President, External Affairs.
Marty and his wife Rita have a home in San Dimas, so his work commute will now be substantially shorter!
“I look forward to making a positive contribution to the members of HASC and am excited about the new challenges that are presented by this opportunity,” Gallegos said.
Marty’s first official day at HASC is Monday, July 22.
Please join me in welcoming Marty to HASC.
