Charge Nurse Critical Thinking Offered Sept. 9
The Charge Nurse: Critical Thinking for RNs course is set for presentation via online video link from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The session is open to HASC and Hospital Council – Northern & Central California members.
Critical thinking is central to effective task management and decision making in high-risk situations. The class reviews how active assessment and analysis of information can help improve quality of thinking and discusses the key principles and barriers to thinking critically. The course also covers the application of critical thinking through nursing processes to help staff arrive at appropriate decisions and conclusions.
Faculty
Faculty for the live course will be Mark Kaliher, BSN, MSN, RN (photo above), known for his upbeat and humorous teaching style. Kaliher is trained in ER nursing and has worked as a staff nurse and relief charge nurse. Since 1988, he has utilized his extensive skill set to conduct in-services and employee orientations. His experience includes working in the ER, ICU, PACU, outpatient surgery and as house supervisor at Glendora Community Hospital in 1990. He also began teaching CPR and donating time to teach basic life support classes at community education centers.
