Nearly two dozen executive assistant administrative professionals shared experiences and compared workplace challenges at HASC’s annual Administrative Professionals Forum last Friday.
Topics included job stress, work-life balance, workplace communication and leadership skills. The session ended with HASC President/CEO George W. Greene offering an overview of issues affecting hospital operations today — and those set to affect hospitals in the future.
Other speakers included Jamila Mayers, HASC program director for education services, Karen Ochoa, HASC education manager, HR services, and Corinne Sinnigen, vice president at health care consultant FutureSense.
In addition to the information provided, the session provided a sense of community for professionals who share common experiences, said Sherry Kuang, executive assistant at Barlow Respiratory Hospital in Los Angeles.
“I didn’t know there was a support group like this,” Kuang said. “It’s good to know we share many of the same experiences, and it’s helpful to learn how people deal with similar issues.”
HASC plans to hold its next Administrative Professionals Forum in autumn 2018.
Next month, Communication Skills for Administrative Professionals, an education session designed for administrators who support the C-Suite, runs 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
