Annual Meeting Presentations
Are Now Posted to Website
Approximately 530 attendees examined homelessness, industry impacts from the 2016 presidential election and a range of other challenges at the 2017 HASC Annual Meeting at Bacara Resort & Spa last week.
Many of the slide presentations from the meeting are posted to the HASC website at www.hasc.org/annual-meeting. Topics include value-based health care, reliability organizing, person-centered care, behavioral health patients and EDs, and building healthy communities.
At the event’s April 5 board meeting, board members and member CEOs listened to an insider’s perspective on a homelessness program in San Antonio, Texas that is saving local government and health providers millions of dollars each year. This presentation is among those posted to the site.
This 2017 annual meeting tackled some weighty issues, event organizer Pat Wall said this week.
“Thanks to member input, this year’s content aligned very closely with member concerns,” said Wall, HASC VP, Membership and Education Services. “As we head towards summer, a number of initiatives will continue to move forward on these issues.”
An example is Communities Lifting Communities, a HASC-led effort to address regional health disparities. This new program has its kick-off meeting on June 16.
Of course, attendees also found time for fun – and results from the annual meeting’s sporting competitions are in. From Wednesday play at Sandpiper Golf Club, Ken Rivers (69) and Shery Shemirani (104) posted men’s and women’s low scores. Thursday’s round-robin tennis event winners included Richard Trogman and Sue Bukovec. Friday’s 5K fun run had Trina Honea of United Healthcare and John Fink of ECG at the top of the results list.
Next year’s HASC Annual Meeting will take place April 11-13 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad.
