Annual Meeting: Registration Is Open

March 12, 2021

John Fankhauser (from left), joins Jeffrey Golden, moderator Bernie Klein, and Michael Mesisca to discuss lessons learned in the COVID-19 pandemic at this year’s HASC Virtual Annual Meeting on April 29.

Space remains for HASC’s 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting. Click here to learn more and reserve your place.

This year’s highlights include a focus on lessons learned from the pandemic, with a discussion led by Bernie Klein, MD, Providence Holy Cross Medical Center Chief Executive. The panel includes:

  • John Fankhauser, MD, MHA, CEO at Ventura County Medical Center and Santa Paula Hospital, who spent five years in Liberia serving on the front lines of the Ebola epidemic. Fankhauser has completed volunteer missions in Sudan, Darfur, China and Guatemala.

  • Jeffrey A. Golden, MD, director of the Burns And Allen Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Golden is conducting groundbreaking research on emerging variants of COVID-19. He recently made headlines for his work helping to identify a new California variant.

  • Michael K. Mesisca, DO, MS, practicing emergency physician at Riverside University Health System. Mesisca served at lead physician of the medical unit at March Air Reserve Base, supervising care for 195 evacuees from Wuhan, China at the start of the pandemic a year ago. He also organizes the efforts of the 17 acute hospitals in Riverside County and worked to operationalize initial COVID-19 testing efforts.

The panel will respond to General Session speaker Larry Brilliant, MD, MHA, and his talk, Let’s Stop Pandemics.

The 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting’s agenda developed to date is here.

Two of the four breakout sessions offer 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face credits each for the low registration fee of $195. Please register at your earliest convenience. Contact HASC Events Coordinator Leticia Salcido with any questions.
