Bittman to Headline May’s Annual Meeting

October 1, 2021

HASC is moving forward with its 2022 Annual Meeting planning — with Barry Bittman, MD (above) confirmed as opening speaker.

Bittman is a neurologist, and chief population health officer for the Inland Empire Foundation for Medical Care, as well as CEO at the Yamaha Music and Wellness Institute.

Mark your calendars for May 16-18 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad. We’re planning to see you there!

Bittman will lead off the 2022 Annual Meeting with a demonstration of the power of music for physical and psychosocial healing. He is a widely-regarded international speaker and researcher who has conducted multiple studies that document the positive effects of integrative medicine with an emphasis on music. His peer-reviewed published scientific research focuses on stress reduction from psychosocial to genomic levels utilizing novel creative musical strategies.

His presentation includes multiple performers, including Mike Garson, legendary pianist for David Bowie, and Drew Tretick, soundtrack violinist who has worked with Tony Bennett, Stevie Wonder and Doc Severinsen.

Also this week, HASC reminds members to consider its annual Call for Presentations. Applicants are asked to submit session proposals by Tuesday, Nov. 30.

Proposals on the following HASC priority topics are especially welcome:

  • Revamping patient care delivery
  • What permanent changes has your hospital made as a result of COVID-19?
  • How has your emergency planning process changed in light of COVID-19?
  • Improving access to behavioral health services
  • Health disparities, hospital/community partnerships, population health
  • Physician engagement and alignment in a value-based environment
  • Emergency medicine, throughput, efficiency
  • Sustaining change
  • Improving responses to workforce burnout and emotional exhaustion

Don’t hesitate to send an idea. Click here or below for full session application details.
