CA Notify App Protects Yourself, Others
CA Notify is a no-cost smartphone app that anonymously tracks phones and notifies users if they’ve spent time near another user who reports being COVID positive.
The system was released Dec. 10 to the state’s nearly 26 million smartphone users — but depends on residents to use it for widespread effectiveness. As of Jan. 4, about 8 million people had signed up.
It takes just a few minutes to activate the system. Separate instructions apply to Android and iPhone users. Learn specific instructions here.
UC San Diego Health provides infrastructure, education and support for the exposure notification system, including a call center and public website.
Nearly 20 states and territories have launched apps based on Google and Apple’s Exposure Notification technology. In California, CA Notify has been piloted at seven different University of California campuses.
Just like wearing masks, physical distancing, handwashing and avoiding gatherings, CA Notify is another tool to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
