Call to Action: Supporting Leaders Through the Pandemic Pays Dividends for Your Organization

November 12, 2021

The coronavirus pandemic has placed extraordinary demands on hospital and health system leaders. Fear and uncertainty among employees have resulted in many leaving due to burnout and fatigue. While organizations work to respond to this workforce crisis, leadership development must be a top priority.

Organizations that commit to developing its leaders can expect to gain a significant competitive advantage by improving the bottom line — attracting, developing, and retaining talent, driving strategy execution, and increasing success when navigating change.

As Henry Ford once said, “The only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay.”

Your leaders must possess the mindsets and behaviors needed to lead, inspire, and motivate others. As the industry faces critical workforce challenges, leadership development will not only prepare current and future leaders, but it also sends a strong message about your organization’s commitment to their professional development.

Leadership Development for Leaders

HASC’s LEAD Academy leadership training program is the association’s longest-running and most popular education offering.

The 2022 live virtual series starts on Thursday, March 17 and runs through Oct. 6.

Online synchronous sessions run from 8:30 – 11 a.m. Pacific Time. Cost is $162 per-person, per module. Click here to learn more and register.

LEAD Academy is an intensive training that uses tools and experiential learning to empower recently hired, newly appointed or previously untrained health care leaders to better understand and use their strengths. Designed for health care supervisors and managers, LEAD is built on the underlying principle that effective leadership requires productive relationships to support excellence in patient care, sustainable business objectives and a safe patient environment.

LEAD Academy provides a safe, interactive virtual environment to practice newly-learned skills and align work goals and actions to support the broader vision of the organization. Engaging activities guide participants through the process of understanding different leadership styles and overcoming the distinct challenges of being a leader. Specific program modules include:

  • From Peer, to Manager, to Leader
  • Leading People Differently/DiSC
  • Leadership Communication Best Practices
  • Resolving Interpersonal Conflict
  • Coaching Employees to Higher Performance
  • Leading Others Through Change
  • Building and Leading Effective Teams
  • Planning and Running Effective Meetings
  • Managing Performance
  • Organizing Your Time, Work and Priorities
  • The Why and How of Organizational Policies
