Charge Nurse Course: Last Chance to Enroll
HASC’s Charge Nurse Leadership Development course is just a week away. The course facilitates the growth and development of nurses as unit leaders. Advanced leadership strategies, communication techniques, priority setting, and conflict management will be discussed. Practice scenarios will be facilitated in group exercises.

Mark Kaliher, RN is an ED charge nurse at Bear Valley Community Hospital and a top-ranked instructor with HASC education program partner Flex Ed.
The online workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 24 and will be taught by Mark Kaliher, RN, of education services provider Flex Ed. Kaliher has over 20 years of nursing experience, primarily in the emergency department, where he currently works at Bear Valley Community Hospital in San Bernardino County.
Kaliher has experience working with a variety of teams through many years of registry work and critical care transports. His experience as a charge nurse, combined with his humor and a passion for nursing, make each course taught an enjoyable learning experience.
Member hospital employees can attend the course for $115 per registrant.
Course Objectives
Following this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify three key managerial functions of the charge nurse.
- Describe how to assess patient care needs and match them with staff competence and ability.
- Discuss steps in managing conflict.
- Discuss the importance of relationship management skills in interdepartmental communication.
- Explain differences between managing and leading.
- List benefits of functioning as a team.
