Clinical Lab Scientist 2020 Report Is Released
HASC is actively addressing the Clinical Laboratory Scientist shortage across the region and has released its 2020 Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) Program Summary Report.
Working with California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), HASC seeks to fill hospitals’ critical workforce needs for Clinical Lab Scientists — known as CLS for short.
Learn more about the program via the report, available below with a list of program training sites.
The increased need for CLS was identified as a high priority area with employers consistently reporting a lack of qualified candidates. Last year, addressing this issue was further challenged by COVID-19, which required using online tools and methods, rather than meeting in person.
To address increased demand for laboratory services and trained CLS professionals, the program collaborates with the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB), which oversees multiple workforce centers. The project also plans to expand with other university programs while continuing its partnership with California State University, Dominguez Hills to:
- Grow the pool of available CLS in the region.
- Help alleviate critical hospital shortages.
- Ensure that individuals from underrepresented and diverse populations can realize professional growth and opportunities.
As the region focuses on economic recovery, we hope that hospitals in need of trained CLS professionals will utilize this existing partnership and recruitment strategy to support their workforce needs.
We eagerly invite you to read the report here or below and take action.
