The Los Angeles area’s Care Harbor free clinic will hold its most comprehensive event to date this Nov. 17-19 at The Reef exposition hall. The downtown event will provide medical, dental, vision and preventive care to thousands of the community’s most vulnerable — people with nowhere to turn for the health care they need.
Please consider sending volunteer medical staff, donating needed medical supplies or making a financial contribution to this important community event. To do so, visit www.careharbor.org/volunteer.
Care Harbor represents the community coming together to help its own — a grassroots response by health care professionals and organizations to address the ongoing challenge of accessible care. Leading hospitals, medical, dental and nursing schools, provider organizations, health care companies, county agencies and thousands of volunteer professionals and other volunteers will come together for this three-day event. The Reef has added 20,000 square feet since the last event, and Care Harbor planners are expanding services and capacity accordingly with close to 1,000 to 1,200 daily attendees anticipated. (January’s clinic drew a total of 2,132 patients over three days.)
In addition to the patients in attendance, the community and general public also benefit from Care Harbor clinics. Early diagnosis allows patients to be treated before diseases reach a more critical and costly stage, increasing the burden on local safety-net resources. The free care provided at Care Harbor also reduces patient reliance on EDs for routine care, helping to contain unreimbursed hospital costs. Find out more at www.careharbor.org.
