Hospital Workers Hit by Fires Need Your Support as Holidays Approach, HASC CEO Says
Multiple hospital workers have lost homes or been directly hit by Ventura County’s Thomas Fire, including a dozen at Ventura County Medical Center, reports say.
That’s in addition to more than 330 workers now without jobs due to the destruction of Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital — also due to the Thomas blaze. No comprehensive tally of workers hit by fires exists, however, and the total is likely higher.
With holidays approaching, it’s a particularly hard time to be dealing with huge loss, HASC President/CEO George W. Greene said this week.
“It’s hard to imagine the stress these families are going through,” Greene stated. “Donating to the CHA/HASC Hospital Workers’ Fire Relief Fund is a sure way to lend a hand to these families in the spirit of holiday giving.”
Established in October, the fund originally supported more than 300 hospital workers in Northern California who lost homes in that month’s blazes. HASC CEO Greene worked with CHA to reactivate the fund this month to help Southern California’s hospital-worker victims.
