L.A. County Employers: Don’t Miss This Opportunity to Enroll Your Nursing Staff
in a RN Peri-Operative Course
Dear Health Care Professional,
The Hospital Association of Southern California announces that Azusa Pacific University (APU) is offering a peri-operative RN specialty course this fall. The APU RN Specialty training course is available for Los Angeles County hospitals to prepare experienced RNs transferring to a new position in peri-operative nursing at their hospital.
The funding has been made available to HASC by the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) and the Los Angeles Basin Region’s Workforce Development Boards to pilot this collaborative model between Los Angeles hospitals and nursing schools. WIB-funded seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis according to dates of hospital management written approval and student application.
Please review attached selection criteria for grant-funded participants. Each hospital commits to pay for a portion of the training (RN salary, or in-kind, or up to 50 percent of cost) as per the SBWIB Incumbent Worker Training Policy. The criteria can easily be met by the wages paid to the employee during their 88 hours of clinical preceptorship.
HASC and HealthImpact are coordinating with APU to develop and implement training and to work with hospitals to implement the fall 2018, RN specialty peri-operative course:
