Logistics Victory LA (LoVLA) Partnership
Facilitates Regionwide PPE Distribution
Multiple HASC members have related challenges procuring personal protective equipment, or PPE, in recent months. In response, the association worked with Gene Seroka, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles, who Mayor Eric Garcetti appointed chief city logistics officer in response to the pandemic. Seroka established Logistics Victory LA (LoVLA), a resource funded by FEMA to procure and distribute PPE to hospitals in need of it for frontline medical workers.
In support of members, HASC forged a partnership between LoVLA and HASC member hospitals with an interest in consortium-level procurement efforts. This partnership empowers hospitals across the HASC region (not just the city of Los Angeles) to purchase PPE at cost, with no additional administrative fees associated with ordering.
To date, HASC has created a task force comprised of hospital administrators, executives and materials management staff representing hospitals across the region. The task force is helping to prioritize products that are in highest demand, identify the specific products that meet our standards, and help estimate quantities and logistical needs.
