MCAG Eases Class-action Recovery
Process, Next Deadline Is Dec. 30
HASC continues its work with Managed Care Advisory Group, or MCAG, the HASC Endorsed Business Partner that makes class-action settlement recoveries a no-hassle revenue source for members.
While MCAG monitors over a dozen class action cases that could benefit HASC members, two have upcoming deadlines. Each is poised to deliver significant payouts to organizations with self-insured health plans that may have overpaid for several drugs purchased for employees. These settlements have funds of $55 million (Thalomid/Revlimid, a Dec. 30 claim filing deadline) and $65 million (Provigil, a Jan. 15 claim filing deadline) available to eligible organizations in California and other eligible states.
MCAG is an industry leader, representing over 1,000 hospitals and recovering over $250 million for clients. Very little time and effort is required to activate MCAG to recover money from these settlements. Members who have already enrolled with MCAG may contact MCAG to ensure the claims team has an up-to-date contact for the organization.
The enrollment process is fast, easy, and has no upfront fees. HASC members enroll in the service directly with MCAG for a discounted, no risk contingency fee of 20 percent of any recoveries (the standard rate is 25 percent).
Additionally, a pending Payment Card Interchange Fee Settlement (“Visa/MasterCard”) is also of note as it could result in a significant revenue payment to members.
“The deadline for the Visa/MasterCard Settlement has not yet been determined, but now’s a good time to work with us to make sure your organization is part of this landmark case,” said Kimberly Johnson, western regional vice president for MCAG. “We’ve been monitoring this opportunity for years, which reimburses hospitals for the fees they paid for accepting Visa or MasterCard payments from customers in the U.S. any time from Jan. 1, 2004 to Jan. 25, 2019. The claim filing window may be established soon.”
By virtue of servicing over 150,000 business locations and through its partnerships including many of the largest health care IT companies and payment processing companies, MCAG manages a procurement database that allows it to build claims and negotiate maximum returns to clients — even in cases where only limited information is available.
