Registered nurses and other health care professionals are not immune to substance use disorder or mental illness. A five-hour seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 20 is designed to provide hospitals with critical information on the Board of Registered Nursing and Healthcare Professionals’ Intervention Program and Diversion Program.
The September event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
National University Business Park Campus in San Diego. It follows
Los Angeles and Inland Empire dates this past April.
The seminar features Virginia Matthews, project manager for
MAXIMUS, the nursing board’s administrative vendor, and Gina
Skinner, BRN intervention program analyst, who will explain the
scope and function of the diversion program. The seminar will
also address the stigma of drug addiction, controversies
surrounding the diversion program and data on program
