Paul Young Named Senior
Vice President for Reimbursement
Paul Young (above) attended Honolulu’s prestigious Punahou School before earning bachelor of education and MBA degrees at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
Paul Young, recently of the Healthcare Association of Hawaii, joined HASC’s senior management team in April as senior vice president, reimbursement.
Young spent more than seven years as the Hawaii association’s manager of reimbursement before advancing to associate vice president. Before that, he spent a dozen years with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Hawaii.
At HASC, Young will work closely with California Hospital Association staff to monitor the state’s reimbursement-related policy and legislation and communicate key developments to HASC members.
“My job is to efficiently communicate reimbursement policy issues at the local level,” Young explained. “I also look forward to supporting HASC’s regional vice presidents with county issues and issues related to local managed care plans.”
Over the next month, Young will meet members at regularly-scheduled HASC regional meetings, which are set for May 17 (Los Angeles), June 5 (Ventura), June 7 (Inland Region), and June 28 (Orange County).
Young’s family has called Hawaii home for five generations. His wife, Cindy, and two sons, aged 14 and 12, will join him at a new home in Irvine later this year.
