Positive Reviews on Ventura Workforce Event

On Aug. 8, HASC with co-sponsor Health Workforce Initiative (South Central Coast) welcomed more than 30 participants from close to 25 organizations to learn about the association’s recent health care sector report, Southern California’s Health Care Workforce: Challenges, Approaches and Solutions.
This Central Coast meeting, geared towards Santa Barbara, Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties, featured an economic analysis by the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, along with an employer panel comprised of HR executives from Cottage Health, Dignity Health, Ventura County Health Care Agency and Aurora Vista del Mar Hospital.
College of the Canyons facilitated the panel, which provoked thoughtful dialogue and shared practical information on addressing current and future workforce challenges. The Workforce Development Board panel representing San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties closed out the event by highlighting local health care initiatives.
Attendees found the event relevant and valuable. “The HASC report was very informative and gave a local perspective,” one participant said. “It was a wonderful opportunity to get local data, hear about challenges and share solutions,” another added.
HASC will be continuing the conversation — all from the health care community are invited to join in exploring strategies and funding opportunities to improve the workforce system across Southern California.
