President’s Message From George W. Greene
As our local health departments partner with CDPH and CDC on the identification of individuals infected with the novel coronavirus, our hospitals remain committed to preparedness and providing support during this time of public health concern.
HASC stands ready to support you on all matters that could impact your organization. Our team has been working with local public health departments to ensure that you receive appropriate guidance and remain aware of developments as things unfold. We’re already working to supply you with the most current communications and resources related to hospital preparedness.
The CDC recently released a Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Hospital Preparedness Assessment Tool to ensure that all U.S. hospital staff are trained, equipped and ready to prevent the spread of the virus in facilities. The document also outlines procedures to identify and isolate patients, monitor and manage health care personnel that might be exposed to the disease, and communicate effectively internally and externally. It’s a well-thought-out and comprehensive guide – I urge you to personally review it.
To further support member hospitals and health systems, CHA is providing updates on the latest developments, guidance, and other important information about the virus at the following address: www.calhospital.org/education-event/coronavirus-watch
Along the same lines, CHA is coordinating with CDPH to host a regular update call with hospitals. Details on upcoming CDPH calls and summaries from past calls can also be found at the CHA Coronavirus Watch webpage.
The situation with novel coronavirus remains fluid and could evolve in several directions – some likely to spark even more concern. As health care leaders, we will strive to provide accurate information and prepare appropriately – and to assure the public that we’re going to be there for them.
