President’s Message From George W. Greene
Dear health care leaders and professionals,
This is an extraordinary time, and the entire HASC family would like to extend our gratitude for the tireless work your teams are doing to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities and for your leadership in the face of this pandemic. The health and safety of family and loved ones is paramount and I hope you are all holding strong during this public health crisis.
I understand that you are all inundated with communications and staying abreast of rapidly evolving developments; in recognition of this, we have decided to limit the number and frequency of communications in your inbox. We do, however, want to keep you informed of the work HASC is doing and conversely, facilitate clear lines of communication for action and advocacy that we can do on your behalf to aid you during this time. As a result, we will issue a weekly communication with updates from the HASC region to keep you informed.
HASC has been in constant contact with hospitals, public health departments, EMS, elected officials and other key decision makers in the region to stay informed of frontline activities and identify opportunities for the Association to advocate, communicate, collaborate and convene as needed in each of our counties. As a result, we have recently sent out a survey to our member hospitals to better understand their needs so that we can develop actionable objectives. Some of the concerns range from PPE shortages, capacity forecasting, testing and screening issues, workforce challenges and others.
Lastly, we have decided to cancel the May 20-22 dates for the 2020 HASC Annual Meeting. This event has become one of the preeminent health care events in the region and while we would surely miss the valued networking and camaraderie, our main concern is protecting the health and safety of everyone. We have assessed whether to reschedule the meeting for later this year; however, we believe that the timing of a meeting later in the year would conflict with everyone’s obligations and recovery from this crisis.
I would like to thank you again for your leadership and commitment to caring for your communities.
