Special Invitation: Diversity Roundtable Is Nov. 5
Dr. Alvin Powell of Cone Health stands with a North Carolina marker that commemorates the 1963 landmark case, Simkins v. Cone.
There is a long history of racial inequity and discrimination in the U.S. health system. Data on racial and ethnic patterns of COVID-19 also show that Black and other people of color are disproportionately impacted by today’s pandemic.
Addressing these issues is critical to creating a more equitable system. Studies also demonstrate that improvements in this area lead to more effective care.
Please join us for our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Roundtable teleconference from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, when Alvin Powell, MD, chief diversity officer at North Carolina-based Cone Health will discuss how the system’s work addressing racial and ethnic health disparities has led to improved patient outcomes.

Cone Health recently commemorated the landmark civil rights case Simkins v. Cone, which helped to desegregate health care in the U.S., and they remain committed to its legacy.
