Los Angeles, CA –The 2013 Health Care Provider Wellness Conference, presented by the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC), comes to The Westin San Diego, June 13-14, 2013. Featured speakers include Thomas Parry, PhD, CEO, Integrated Benefits Institute; Dr. Timothy Newman, medical director, FirstEnergy, Corp.; Lee Dukes, president, Principal Wellness Company; Christopher Scanlan, partner, Arnold & Porter LLP; and Gary Taubes and Dr. Peter Attia, co-founders, Nutrition Science Initiative.
“There is increasing pressure placed on health care organizations to become more focused on prevention and population health management, to transform from providers of sick care to providers of health care,” said Hamilton Mears, 2013 HASC Wellness Committee Chair and administrator, Scripps Wellness. “To accomplish this transformation we need to be able to engage large groups of people in meaningful wellness efforts. We need to be able to separate fact from fiction as we sort through the explosion of products and approaches available to us. We also need to be able to demonstrate value in a tough economic environment, and we need to be able to do all this in a confusing legal and regulatory landscape.”
An exceptional team of experts has been assembled at the 3rd Annual Health Care Provider Wellness Conference to explore these issues in depth. Leading thinkers in benefits design, health care economics, clinical intervention and community leadership will use case studies and educational sessions at the two-day event to bring into focus critical issues in employee health and their impact on productivity, patient safety and costs. Highlighted topics include worker fatigue, nutrition and wellness program implementation and management for facilities of varying capacities, from smaller critical access hospitals to larger systems.
“HASC is excited and proud to sponsor the Health Care Provider Wellness Conference to highlight the importance of all health care providers serving as role models for the health of our communities. This is an important initiative for the association and we encourage all health care providers to make employee wellness and prevention a strategic priority of their organization. In addition to our team of experts, we will be showcasing forward-thinking organizations that have implemented innovative strategies for successful outcomes,” said Teri Hollingsworth, vice president, Human Resources Services, HASC.
