Jim Lott Named New Chairman of Charles Drew University
HASC Executive Vice President Jim Lott was named chairman of Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science, an academic and research institution dedicated to training physicians and health professionals in providing care to underserved populations.
Lott, a long-serving board member at the University, hopes to continue to build upon the momentum established by outgoing chair and former University president M. Roy Wilson, MD.
“We will continue to work diligently so that the University flourishes in its role of providing medical graduates and research that benefits the medically underserved,” he said. “In today’s economic climate, our mission is as vital as before.”
The Board of Trustees also named two new board members with broad health care experience in both the public and private sectors: Teresa Berryman, former chancellor at the University of Colorado Denver and current member of the board of the Denver School of Science and Technology for Denver Public Schools; and Howard Kahn, chief executive officer of L.A. Care Health Plan and founding president and chief executive officer of The California Wellness Foundation.
