Hospital Quality Institute Conference Set for November

Don’t miss the patient safety conference of the year, the Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) Inaugural Annual Conference Nov. 6-7 in Huntington Beach: Accelerate Excellence 2014. The HASC Patient Safety Colloquium was not held earlier this year, so that our quality professionals, nurse leaders, physician champions and executive directors might take advantage of this broader statewide opportunity.

Orange County Eliminates Partial Payments to Hospitals in County Program

August 6, 2014

On July 22, the Orange County Board of Supervisors eliminated interim payments to hospitals in the county program for those remaining uninsured (MSN), and approved policy to pay hospitals their full, contracted rates once claims are approved. HASC coordinated the advocacy effort on behalf of hospitals.

Also approved by the Board was the ability of individuals eligible for the MSN program and meeting specified criteria to enroll through community clinics (not just hospital emergency rooms). This change was also requested by hospitals.
