National Health Foundation received a $250,000 grant to expand services to homeless patients at the Recuperative Care Center in the San Gabriel Valley. Also in the HASC region this week, about 300,000 Healthy Way LA members are expected to transition to full-scope Medi-Cal benefit coverage as of Jan. 1, 2014. Sign up now for the 2014 Spring Session of the LEAD Academy. HASC thanks member hospitals that met or surpassed their CHPAC goals this year.

Healthy Way LA Members Will Transition to Full-Scope Medi-Cal Benefit Coverage Jan. 1, 2014

In Los Angeles County, about 300,000 Healthy Way LA members are expected to transition to full-scope Medi-Cal benefit coverage. LIHP/HWLA (matched) program ends on Dec. 31, 2013, pursuant to California’s 1115 Waiver.

Transitioning HWLA members will receive Medi-Cal coverage through the Medi-Cal managed care plan and can choose between a Medi-Cal plan and primary care provider. “No choice” members will be defaulted into the Medi-Cal managed care plan.

National Health Foundation Receives Grant for San Gabriel Valley Recuperative Care Center Expansion

December 18, 2013

National Health Foundation recently received a $250,000 grant from the Harold Edelstein Foundation to expand post-hospitalization health care services to homeless patients, specifically for the Recuperative Care Center in the San Gabriel Valley.

With the Edelstein Foundation’s grant, NHF’s cooperative partners will expand care into the communities of La Puente, West Covina, Glendora, Pomona and others, alleviating the problems hospitals face when there appears to be no safe option for discharging homeless patients.

Movement in OC for Hospitals with County on Care for the Residually Uninsured

December 18, 2013

After weeks of attempted negotiations with County staff to craft a program for caring for the County’s Section 17000 patients (those remaining uninsured starting January 1, 2014), OC hospitals took their case to the Board of Supervisors this week and secured commitments for Board review and oversight of the program that will enhance transparency and improve opportunities for collaboration between the County and hospitals going forward.
