HASC: Yes on Measure H,
No on Measure S

HASC has endorsed Measure H (Los Angeles County-wide measure) on the Tuesday, March 7 local election ballot.

Voters are urged to cast “no” votes on Measure S (City of Los Angeles voters) in the same election.

March Legislative Day Addresses
Important Juncture for Health Care

CHA and the Regional Associations invite members to the 2017 Health Policy Legislative Day on Tuesday, March 14 and Wednesday, March 15 in Sacramento. With the new presidential administration’s discussions of changes to the industry, it’s never been more critical to ensure that the state’s hospital leaders are heard.

In addition to legislative visits on March 15, CHA will host a breakfast reception with legislators followed by an education program with Gov. Jerry Brown tentatively scheduled to deliver a keynote address.

CHPAC Support Network Begins
Critical 2017 Fundraising Push

At its Jan. 31 meeting, HASC’s Board reiterated the importance of achieving 100 percent participation in the association’s California Hospital Association Political Action Committee (CHPAC) fundraising goal, given the ACA’s uncertain future. CHPAC exists to support candidates who understand the vital role the state’s hospitals play as part of the health care system and the positive impact they have on the economy. With your donations, CHPAC works to elect, educate and build relationships with policymakers who care about the continued viability of California hospitals.

New Soft Skills Training for
Health Care Workforce Available

The CHA-affiliated Health Workforce Initiative (HWI) just announced the release of new soft skills training curriculum designed specifically for health care workers. Soft skills are defined as personal attributes that enable someone to interact effectively and harmoniously with other people.

Disaster Training Runs March 7-8

The next Hospital Disaster Management Training (HDMT) sessions will take place Tuesday, March 7 and Wednesday, March 8 at LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Additional sessions are set for May 2-3, Oct. 3-4, and Dec. 5-6. As of last week, at least a dozen spots remained for the March sessions.

State of the Union Web Seminar Is Feb. 23

HASC’s Human Resources Services’ State of the Union Web Seminar on Thursday, Feb. 23 will provide the latest on trends and legal developments related to organized labor. The session is designed for hospital and system executives, chief human resource officers, chief nursing officers and other HR specialists and staff.
