Inland Empire Organizations Issue Donor Call

The American Red Cross, and other organizations that distribute blood products, report critical supply shortages across the Inland Empire this month. HASC reminds all health care providers that summer is an excellent time to discuss with their communities the need for blood donors — and the critical service that donors provide.

Herbert Villafuerte is CEO at Garfield Medical Center (GMC) in Monterey Park. Villafuerte joined the facility in 2010 as GMC’s Nurse Director of Emergency and Critical Care. He has held various positions since, most recently serving as chief nursing officer and chief operating officer.

Community Health Worker / Promotor Survey Invites Responses Through Wednesday, June 30

June 25, 2021

UC San Francisco (UCSF), in partnership with HASC and FutureSense, has launched a Community Health Worker/Promotor (CHW/P) Survey. The survey is part of a larger study, approved by UCSF’s Institutional Review Board, examining the CHW/P workforce in California that will inform community stakeholders and support future CHW/P planning efforts in the state.

Endorsed Partner bttn. Secures Capital

HASC Endorsed Business Partner bttn. this week grabbed headlines by securing $1.5 million in additional startup capital three months after the venture launched.

The Seattle-based company targets the U.S. wholesale medical supply market, with a predicted value of $243.3 billion this year. By cutting out middlemen, the platform offers direct-from-manufacturer pricing with a better ordering experience, Crunchbase News reports this week.
