Inland Region CHNA
The Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) served as the catalyst to bring hospitals, health systems, and other key stakeholders together to compile an extensive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) for the Inland Empire, which includes Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Working as a cohesive group to gather and analyze data for various service areas was vital. The objective of this regional CHNA was to identify health issues and health needs in the two-county region, as well as for the service areas of each participating hospital and healthcare system. The hospitals participating in this effort include: Loma Linda University Medical Center, Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta, Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center, Loma Linda University Medical Center Children’s Hospital, Parkview Community Hospital Medical Center, San Antonio Regional Hospital, Redlands Community Hospital, San Bernardino Mountains Community Hospital, San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, Ridgecrest Regional Hospital, and Montclair Hospital Medical Center.
These participating hospitals and health systems will utilize the CHNA to inform their community health programs and to develop individual reports and community benefit implementation plans as required by state and federal law. This regional CHNA will allow participating hospitals to respond to IRS regulatory requirements that not-for-profit hospitals conduct a health needs assessment in the community once every three years. In this collaborative effort, some district hospitals – not subject to the requirement but deeply committed to the communities they serve – also participated.
