Care for the Caregiver Resources
HASC is committed to the well-being of its member hospitals and recognizes that resilient, healthy employees are a workforce asset every day, especially during the current pandemic. During these challenging times, we realize that your health care workforce may be experiencing higher levels of stress, anxiety, grief, and other challenges as safe and reliable patient care continues to be provided to the communities that you serve.
HASC created this Care for the Caregiver webpage to provide information to help hospitals and their employees stay safe, healthy, and feel connected during this COVID-19 time. We are here to support your well-being and invite you to use the resources that we have listed and hope that you will find them useful.
With any questions, please contact Lisa Mitchell, HASC Program Manager, Workforce Development, lmitchell@hasc.org or (213) 538-0722.

Hospital Quality Institute’s “Care for the Caregiver” webinar
The Hospital Quality Institute’s “Care for the Caregiver” webinar is now available as an on-demand recording. The webinar includes practical and necessary tools to assist hospitals and their employees in creating a peer support model for adverse events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the training offers information on how to engage in empathic conversation with both patients and families. More information and the recording are available here.
In addition, behavioral health professionals in the Bay Area have created a pro bono project for Bay Area front-line health care workers. The COVID-19 Pro Bono Counseling Project is a project devoted to helping health care workers locate free convenient short-term psychotherapy during the COVID19 crisis.
