July Wellness Conference Speaker: Françoise Mathieu
Compassion fatigue expert Françoise Mathieu is a featured speaker at July’s Health Care Provider Wellness Conference in Garden Grove. The Canadian psychotherapist and author joins a full slate of wellness authorities set to share their passion for the growing field at the event.
More than two decades of research prove that high stress professions such as mental health, law enforcement and health care bring risk to workers. Compassion fatigue, secondary trauma and burnout can take a cumulative toll on individuals and teams. What can professionals do to protect themselves from the stories they hear on a regular basis, given limited resources and a high volume of work — while remaining effective and intact?
Mathieu’s evidence-informed presentation is suitable for novices – or seasoned managers. Using the most recent research, she will probe assumptions about fatigue and trauma. She will also confront the organizational and personal barriers that professionals face daily, and offer new and creative approaches to taming these occupational hazards.
Participants will learn:
- Key factors that increase risks of compassion fatigue, burnout and secondary trauma
- Early intervention strategies
- Workplace strategies: what works?
Mathieu’s session runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Friday, July 14 at the Wyndham Anaheim Garden Grove. Click here for complete event information, and to register.
