Security and Safety Committee Bids Morgan Thanks, Passes Torch to Westall
HASC Membership & Education Services Vice President Pat Wall (right) presented outgoing Security and Safety Committee Chair Darren Morgan with a commemorative plaque at the committee’s April 27 meeting.
HASC on April 27 expressed sincere thanks to outgoing Security and Safety Committee Chair Darren Morgan. Morgan is director of security for Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and served on the committee for the past seven years. He was committee chair from 2014 to last month.
Morgan was part of the leadership group that organized a high-profile active shooter drill at LAC+USC Medical Center in 2013. The drill involved close to 200 hospital personnel and 30 law enforcement officers from four police forces.
He also represented HASC on a Cal/OSHA advisory committee to develop and implement S.B. 1299, the recently-enacted workplace violence prevention legislation.
Morgan helped spearhead a partnership with the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) to provide a basic course for Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO) in Southern California. To date, 23 officers have completed the training. The next course will be offered Sept. 8, 15 and 22 at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center.
