SlingShot Initiative — Los Angeles County, Ventura County
Addressing skilled care coordination workforce needs
The Los Angeles and Ventura Counties Regional Health Care Coordination Project: C3 Skills Alliance Collaborative for Care Coordination was formed under the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) SlingShot Initiative, to address the increased need for a skilled care coordination workforce among hospital and clinic health systems.
HASC continues to support the C3 Skills Alliance Collaborative for Care Coordination and the Southeast Los Angeles County Workforce Development Board in its development and implementation of care coordination training programs for health care personnel in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Training activities have been completed for approximately 200 new and incumbent workers at the entry and middle skill levels at local adult schools and community colleges — the professional level will soon be available through the CSU system. Course content is available statewide to educate patient care staff in hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities. HASC supports this effort and serves as an industry representative to educate and inform stakeholders.
