HASC Welcomes Sanford to Business Partner Role

The association recently welcomed Darryl Sanford as director of member relations and association services. Sanford brings extensive leadership experience to the role — most recently as the director of marketing and business development at Las Encinas Hospital and at Pacific Grove Hospital. In a new function for the position, he’ll work closely with HASC regional vice presidents and senior executive staff in supporting local advocacy goals — along with the association’s Endorsed Business Partner program.

Joseph Reflects on Barber Fellowship

Ashley Joseph serves from July 2018 to Aug. 2 as HASC’s second James D. Barber Administrative Fellow. The fellowship was created following HASC President/CEO Jim Barber’s 2016 retirement. It offers an up-and-coming health care professional with an advanced degree a chance to explore policy, media relations, program management, issue research and public speaking.

Charge Nurse Course Is Offered This Friday

Critical thinking is central to effective task management and decision making in high-risk situations. The class reviews how active assessment and analysis of information can help improve quality of thinking and discusses the key principles and barriers to thinking critically. The course also covers the application of critical thinking through nursing processes to help staff arrive at appropriate decisions and conclusions.
