HASC Briefs for February 4, 2015

Register today for Advanced LEAD Academy, which picks up where LEAD Academy leaves off. The first session will be March 19. April 16 is Health Care Decisions Day, and health care providers can encourage patients to join the initiative. Registering for the Palliative Care Conference on March 12 is another way to engage in the important conversation regarding health care wishes. National Health Care Decisions Day is April 16

National Health Care Decisions Day (NHDD), April 16, is a day set aside to inspire, educate, and empower the public and health care providers about the importance of advance care planning. It’s an initiative to encourage patients to express their wishes regarding health care, and for providers and facilities to respect those wishes, whatever they may be.

Register Now for Summer/Fall LEAD Academy

The Spring session of LEAD Academy has already sold out! Register now for Summer/Fall 2015 sessions.

Session dates are: July 24, August 21, September 25, October 16, November 13 and December 4. LEAD Academy will take place at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, Part of Keck Medicine of USC.

Security and Safety Committee Participates in Disney Educational Session

More than 30 members of HASC’s Security and Safety Committee attended a half-day invitational education session at the Walt Disney Company, Burbank. Andrea Davis, Director of Crisis Management and Business Continuity at Disney, featured a team of company experts on security operations, workplace violence, business recovery and employee medical/nursing programs. With many parallels to issues facing hospitals, Disney utilizes employee training and empowerment, collaboration, and use of best practices to result in prompt action to resolve potential issues.
