RN Specialty Pipeline Project
Providing clinical education to new and experienced RNs transitioning to new roles
HASC in association with HealthImpact is establishing academic-practice partnerships to develop nursing education courses in seven specialty areas — including perioperative, critical care, emergency, labor and delivery, neonatal ICU, case manager and care coordinator.
Courses developed will provide content and immersive clinical education time to prepare new graduate RNs and/or experienced nurses transitioning to new roles. HASC was granted funding through the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) and the Los Angeles Basin Region Workforce Development Boards to work with nursing programs in Los Angeles County to provide two Perioperative RN specialty courses in summer and fall 2018 — and trained 17 nurses to work as perioperative nurses at eight hospitals.
