With June 16 Kickoff, Work Begins for Communities Lifting Communities Effort

A standing room only crowd attended the June 16 kickoff for Communities Lifting Communities, (CLC), the health disparities initiative launched by HASC, HC2 Strategies, Inc. and the Public Health Alliance of Southern California.

In months and years to come, CLC will coordinate multiple agencies and participants working together to address health factors that disproportionately impact low-income communities.

HASC Plays Role in L.A. County Homelessness Funds Allocation

June 22, 2017

This month, HASC provided comment to Los Angeles County’s Measure H work group on funding priorities from a hospital perspective. Approved by voters in March, Measure H authorizes a quarter-cent sales tax that will raise an estimated $259 million to address homelessness this year.  

Approved by the Board of Supervisors on June 13, funding allocation is now set in various categories recommended by the work group — including programs of special interest to HASC member hospitals.

HASC Welcomes Association Services Director Johnson

June 22, 2017

Kimberly Johnson is HASC’s new director of association services. In the role, she will coordinate operations with the association’s endorsed business partners.

Johnson previously served as business development director at San Fernando Post Acute Hospital and at VITAS Healthcare.

CEO Receives O.C. Business Journal Honor

June 22, 2017

Suzanne Richards, CEO at Orange County Global Medical Center and at eight-hospital KPC Healthcare, was honored by Orange County Business Journal with a 2017 Annual Women in Business Award last month.

Richards was one of five women honored at the 23rd annual event, held at the Hotel Irvine on May 2. She is the first hospital CEO to receive the honor. Richards, along with four other winners, was selected out of 191 nominees.
