Nurse Manager White Paper Follows Sept. 14 Event

Forty attendees participated in Sept. 14’s Nursing Span of Control – A C-Suite Discussion to explore this challenging issue. The morning consisted of a three-hour workshop with speakers diving deep into span of control (SOC) — the proportion of nurse employees to each nurse manager or supervisor. Attendees also shared success stories and brought their SOC challenges to the table for brainstorming and planning.

Lori Morgan, MD, MBA is President/CEO at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena. Prior to her appointment, Morgan was President at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and The Unity Center for Behavioral Health in Portland, Ore. She is a board-certified trauma surgeon and intensivist.

HASC, OC Develop Versatile 5150 Hold/Release Policy 

Working with HASC and area hospitals, the Orange County Behavioral Health Department has approved new policies for managing involuntary 5150 patients in non-Lanterman-Petris-Short Act-designated facilities.

Seats remain for this year’s Administrative Professionals Forum — which takes place Friday, Oct. 20 with the theme, Innovating and Leading.

Designed for health care executive and administrative assistants who support the C-Suite within HASC region hospitals and systems, the annual forum provides updates on topics and issues impacting administrative professionals. A peer-group panel will also delve into topics of interest.

MCAG Settlement Deadlines Are Extended

HASC, with its strategic partner, Managed Care Advisory Group (MCAG), offers a class action settlement recovery service with no up-front cost to members. MCAG has distributed more than $300 million to thousands of customers via the service. The first round of payments to enrolled hospitals is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017 (depending on date of enrollment).

If you are one of the 100-plus member hospitals already enrolled, you do not need to sign the attached agreement or sign up on the website. MCAG will continue to file claims on behalf of your organization.
